Introduction
From this point on access is limited to members of the bodyguard. This is just to protect personal information which we have a duty to remove from the public domain.

As the introduction by the Provincial Prior and Sub Prior has already stated the bodyguard is an active position. It's members accompany the senior members of the province on their formal visits within this and other provinces. Their duties include providing the Arch of Steel and any other duties that may be required at the time. This may include but not limited to filling in for any Preceptory officers who are absent as well as other floor work.

Membership
Membership of the Provincial Bodyguard is by invitation (see the Sub-Prior's introduction on the home page). As an active Provincial office there is a requirement that you should be proficient in the KT ritual and the associated work (eg Arch of Steel etc). The place to become proficient in the ritual and to demonstrate this skill is at the Provincial Preceptory of Improvement (PoI), and regular attendance does ensure that your abilities are recognised. Whilst regular attendance at the PoI is not mandatory it is expected.

Duties
As a member of the bodyguard you will be allocated duties for the year - please look through the list at your very earliest opportunity and advise me if there are any conflicts with your personal diaries and commitments. If diary conflicts occur during the year please advise me with as much notice as possible (I will have to find a stand in for you - from the remainder of the bodyguard). The list of events will be sent to you but an updated copy will be maintained within these members' pages.

During your active year you will be expected to attend the two provincial visits, the annual family church service, and your allocated visits (this would normally be, but not limited to, approximately six per year). You are also actively encouraged to attend the Provincial PoI and join the Bodyguard Preceptory.

There are a number of items which may be of use for members and prospective members;
  • You will be representing the province, when on duty please dress and act with this in mind.
  • When in KT regalia you will be wearing the bodyguard badge so please remember you will still represent the province.
  • There is a recommended pattern of sword if you are to buy a new sword please consider this.
  • The Bodyguard supply a number of knights for the Provincial Malta meeting and you will be expected to participate. To do this you must have been through the Malta ceremony and, as you will be participating, you will be actively encouraged to obtain Malta regalia.
  • Please enjoy yourself, this is your opportunity to get about the province - grasp it with both hands.
